The drawing lesson / Every cow is an artist (2007, Austria) - 4`03``
The Russian audience is well acquainted with Litichevskyj’s works in the comics genre, meanwhile he has been working with a video camera since 1995, making full-fledged video installations and documenting performances. In the Drawing lesson video project, dressed in a long coat and hat in the Joseph Beuys fashion the artist walks through a field near a farm in Graz talking with cows, drawing cows and suggesting the cows draw something. Creating a humorous image of a Russian art-tourist and an idyllic one of the Austrian country life, he remembers Beuys’s performances with animals and at some point thrusts open his coat revealing a t-shirt with EVERY COW IS AN ARTIST inscription –a paraphrase of the maitre’s saying “Every man is an artist”.
