Still Life (2008, Canada) ~10`
A Canadian video artist and photographer, has collaborated as a scenographer with theatre companies in Belgium and Canada. Had solo exhibitions of video works in Brussels (Theatre de la Balsamine, Galerie du Theatre de la Place de Martyrs) and Montreal (Galerie Articule et Sentres des arts contemporains du Quebec, Espase 318). Still Life centers around the image and continued existence, both as object and as concept of the mind. Through the physical act of revealing and reproducing a single photograph on the screen? or collecting hundreds of them in a series of movements, it’s also a human identity that in the making. Entirely made of photo stills assembled in a not always logical fashion and in a aleatory rhythmic, Still Life seems to outsmart our apprehension of the video narrative, carrying us into a dream like, surreal world – long traveling shots or short syncopated movements, layered images or photo collage – so as to produce in the end a portrait in movement of the modern man.
