Xenia Peretrukhina
A portrait of the art-critic Maria Kravtsova (from the Brides of Joseph Beuys series) Or the lonelinesses of a user (2008, Russia) - 2`45``
Visual artist, film-maker and script writer, Xenia Peretrukhina has studied at the Gerasimov All-Russian state institute of cinematography (VGIK), contemporary art schools of RSUH and the Soros Foundation. Her Hamburger (2005), the work in which the artist turns to the tradition started by Andy Warhol - exploring the aesthetics of an advertisement image - is well-known to those interested in video art. The Brides of Joseph Beuys series consists of video portraits of women in contemporary art. Each participant is invited to take into the space of a portrait with her the most important things connected with meaningful events of her life. Maria said she doesn't want anything apart from her laptop. Later a mobile phone and a suitcase full of expensive shoes were added to the list. Nothing more.
