Who’s there?” young art festivals in Moscow organized by the State Centre for Contemporary Art. The difficulties in interaction and communicative distance, distrust towards those who seem different and perception stereotypes –all this divides us, prevent from stepping across the borders of one’s social group or the familiar circle. Loneliness in the strange world, attempts to enter it, contacts with others –these are the stages those who are different from us go through –the “strangers”, “the aliens”. Often those with different abilities become “strangers”, the people with limited or exaggerated capacities. Even in cases of artificial changes such as limited functions of vision and movement the no-man’s land is generated around such people. Existence in this zone, attempts to cross it’s borders, where do they lead? To creation of an uncertain space. How will people react to the appearance of strangers? Will they enter into contact or drive them back into the habitual no-man’s land? There’s no certain answer. The choice is ours.
